Rick and Susan Poss and daughter Amy own and operate St. Paul East RV Park. Amy is assuming primary responsibility for leading the business. Along with son, Matt, the Poss family has owned and operated the campground since 1991.
The campground isn’t just a business to the Poss family; it’s their summer home. "We take great pride in the quality and cleanliness of our facilities and grounds, our beautiful landscaping, and our friendly, professional staff," says Susan.
Rick was a senior executive and officer with a major computer scanning, services, and software company until the late 90’s, when he retired, and Susan was a teacher and stay-at-home mom before deciding to purchase the campground. "It was a good opportunity to have a family-owned and involved business in a growing, successful industry," said Susan. "And it was a great training, learning, and maturing opportunity for the children."
After 15 years in the business and completion of his undergraduate and Master’s degrees, son Matt began his career as an officer in the U.S. Navy in 2005. Until 2010 Matt was stationed in Bangor, WA, serving as an officer on the USS Maine, Pacific Fleet, a nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. He, his wife, and new son Jonah, relocated to Richmond, VA, where Matt was a LT. at the U.S. Defense Supply Center. In 2012 the family, now including daughter Helen, was transferred to Yokosuka, Japan where Matt served on the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19, the command and control ship for the Southern Fleet, as supply officer. He returned to the U.S. in May 2014 and is currently in Monterey, CA at the Naval Post Graduate School, achieving a MBA. Their new daughter, Evelyn, was born Christmas Eve, 2014.
Amy finished her college degree majoring in biology education and German. Instead of pursuing a teaching career, she decided to assume on-going responsibility for managing the family RV park business. She is also certified as an emergency medical technician and recently obtained certification and license to practice equine acupressure and Reiki on horses.
Rick, Susan, and Amy spend their winters at their Marco Island, Florida home enjoying RVing, golfing and kayaking. Amy and her horse, Tigger, spend time together in Florida while she also has worked the past number of years in varied positions:
- As an instructor/tour leader for all the sixth grade Collier County school children in the Big Cypress National Preserve
- As a representative for the Everglades National Park boat tours
- As a guide on overnight kayak trips in the Ten Thousand Islands
- In 2014/15, as an employee of UPS Naples, FL, processing and delivering packages
- As a volunteer for the Southwest Florida Thoroughbred Horse Rescue
Our friendly, professional staff includes local men and women from the community as well as retired, full-time RVers who work and live with us on the campground during the summer months. They are selected because of their knowledge, their great work ethic, and the respect they have for you. Our goal is to provide an excellent camping experience for you.
Come and meet the Poss family and staff!
